Introduction and objectives of the course:
This     course     introduces     you     to     the fundamentals, implementation and applications of Wireless Communication systems and concepts as applied to practical,real world scenario.The  course  addresses  the  theory  and application   cellular concepts, modulation schemes, multiplexing techniques, antenna theory, propagation concepts, Large and Small Scale Fading and standards in Cellular Technology like 2G, 3G, 4G, GSM, IS-95, CDMA, LTE, etc.. The various modules covered in the course are as follows:-

    • Introduction to Cellular Concepts.
    • Large Scale and Small Scale Fading.
    • Electromagnetic Propagation and Antenna Theory as applicable to Wireless Communication.
    • Modulation Techniques in Wireless Communication Systems.
    • Standards of Wireless Technologies like 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, GSM, CDMA, IS – 95, LTE, LTE advanced, etc.

    Course Contents

    Module1:  Introduction  to Wireless Communication, Cellular Concepts, System Design Issues, Cell Capacity and Reuse, Interference and System Capacity, Improving Coverage and System Capacity, Back Haul Networks and their Planning, Long Haul & Short Haul Communications.

    Module2: Mobile Radio Propagation, Large Scale Fading, Shadowing effects, Small Scale Fading, Doppler's effect in Mobile Radio Wave Propagation, Slow and Fast Fading Wireless Channels, Flat and Frequency Selective or Time Dispersive Fading, Tapped Delay Line FIR Filter response of a Fading Channel.

    Module3: Electromagnetic Wave Propagation, Concepts of Interference, Diffraction, Scattering and Refraction of EM waves, Frequency Spectrum and their characteristics based on applications, Introduction to Antenna Theory, Concepts of Gain, Directivity and Efficiency, Details of Sectoral /Directional Antennas and Parabolic Reflectors in Wireless Communication.

    Module  4:  Introduction to Modulation and Multiplexing Schemes in Wireless Communication, QPSK and QAM, GMSK, TDMA, FDMA, CDMA, Coding and Diversity Techniques, Space and Frequency Diversity, Diversity Combining Techniques.

    Module  5: Popular Wireless Standards, 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, GSM, IS – 95, CDMA, LTE, LTE Advanced, etc.

    Who can attend? Programmes are open to faculty and research scholars from all the colleges and universities in the states of M.P., Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Industry personnel working in the concerned/allied discipline may also apply.

    By Email – Scanned copy of the filled in application form duly endorsed by the forwarding authority to be mailed at academyiiitdmj@gmail.com. Application format may be downloaded from the website (Also given in this brochure).
    Print out of the filled in application form duly endorsed by the forwarding authority  and a demand draft in favour of ‘Electronics and ICT Academy, IIITDMJ’ payable at Jabalpur may be brought at the time of on-site registration on September 12, 2015. No Travelling Allowance will be paid by the Academy.
