The Institute carries out research in the form of thesis pursued by its postgraduate students in these areas along sponsored projects carried out by members of faculty in some of these areas.
Further, IIITDM Jabalpur is the first academic Institute in India, which is being set up as Indo-Japanese collaboration. The Japanese Government has announced twelve partners of the Japanese Consortium in 2007 among Japanese universities/institutes and industries. Several of the Japanese academicians as well as industry experts regularly visit the Institute to participate in its academic activities. Besides, several of our faculty members and students also visit Japan and get themselves exposed to and acquainted with the Japanese ways of developing various advanced technologies.
Recently, during July 2009 at the 3rd Consortium meeting it was decided that Japanese universities and industries will play a more active role in the postgraduate and research education of the Institute, including joint supervision of thesis, organizing of joint workshops and conferences at IIITDM Jabalpur.
