Design Workshop: Leading-edge Theories and Practices in Design (DeW 2010)

The design paradigm has been changed leaps and bounds since the last decade. The design process adopted by the Indian industry in particular is not keeping pace with the technological developments associated with the modern design technology. Keeping this aim in mind, the Institute is holding the First Design Workshop on Leading-edge Theories and Practices in Design. The Workshop would focus on:

1. Leading-edge Product Design
2. Manufacturing technologies facilitating development of advanced product design
3. Advances in fundamental design technologies
4. Role of design software in design advancement

Scope of the Workshop

1. To inculcate the culture of integrating design with production and treating design process with a holistic approach and not in isolation.
2. To create an enabling environment for establishing and incubating design paradigm.
3. To identify the potential areas of design services that the Institute can offer to the industry.
4. To open a dialogue between the Institute and the Industry and evolve an active plan for ensuring continuous interaction with specific goals

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

(1) Candidates applying for more than one post must use separate Application Form for each post (along with required DEMAND DRAFT in original) and send them in separate cover super-scribed with the name of the post applied for. However, they may use the photocopy of the Application Form.

(2) Persons serving in Govt./Semi-Govt./PSUs should send their applications either THROUGH PROPER CHANNEL or should furnish a NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE at the time of interview. They can, however, send an advance copy along with the DEMAND DRAFT in original.

(3) Besides pay, the posts carries allowances according to the Institute rules which at present are at par with the Central Government employees stationed at Jabalpur.

(4) Requirement of age and experience is relaxable as per norms at the discretion of the competent authority. The Institute reserves the right to relax any of the qualifications/experience in exceptional cases of meritorious outstanding candidates.

(5) Higher initial basic pay may be given to exceptionally qualified and deserving candidate(s).

(6) The Institute reserves the right to place a reasonable limit on the total number of candidates to be

called for interview.

(7) Fulfillment of essential qualifications per se does not entitle a candidate to be called for

interview.

(8) The Institute reserves the right not to fill up the posts, cancel the Advt. in whole or in part without assigning any reason and its decision in this regard shall be final.

(9) The selection process will generally consist of written and/or trade test followed by an interview. No TA will be paid for written test. However, the candidates called for interview will be paid 2nd class sleeper rail fare (for the posts at Sl. Nos. 5 to 9 ) and 3-AC rail fare (for the post at Sl. No. 1 & 4) for to and fro journey by the shortest route.

Firms/ Contractors eligible to apply should have (i) an experience of successful completion of similar* works during last five year ending 31/08/09: 3 (Three) works each of value not less than 40% of estimated cost OR 2 (two) works of 60% estimated cost OR 1(one) work of 80% estimated cost (at least one of them must be in Central Government/ Central Autonomous Bodies/Central Public Sector Undertakings). PDPM IIITDM Jabalpur is a premier institute set up by Government of India with the primary goal to educate engineers in dealing with problems of design and manufacturing of engineering goods. 1. The quotations should be submitted in the form of two bid system; each of which is to be submitted in separate envelopes. 3. Price: Prices should be inclusive of all taxes and duties FOR IIIT J. In case of any deviation, taxes, duties should be clearly specified.

4. Installation: Installation of the system at our site with your instruments, accessories, tools & tackles; deploying appropriate manpower as required, at your cost.

5. Service facility: Supplier should mention about the possible service set up in Jabalpur, India and how capable they are to provide after installation.

6. The quotations may be opened at a later date suitable to the members.

7. The Director, PDPM-IIITDM Jabalpur reserves the right to accept the offer in full or in parts or reject summarily or partly without assigning any reasons thereof.

8. The bidder must be a Company registered under Indian Company Act, 1956 or Government / Government PSU.

9. The bidder must have a minimum average turnover of Rs. 50 crores annually during the last three financial years consecutively for the telecom sector only. Attested & audited copies of the company's annual reports for the years 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09 have to be attached along with the bid.

10. The bidder company shall be registered in India with valid and operative Category-A ISP license with duly approved international gateway facility in India.

11. Proof of the DOT / TRAI certificate.

12. Bidder should have/be:

    1. Class A ISP License. Minimum 5 years of experiences in the field of ISP with Class A License.

    2. Minimum international capacity (from international gateway in India up to International Points of Presence) of at least 155 Mbps (STM1).

    3. At least ONE OWN CABLE HEAD is a must.

    4. Upstream bandwidth service provider. They should have their own cable system encompassing the important locations across the globe with alternate routes and ring architecture.

    5. At least one cable landing station at India's West Coast for traffic destined for Europe and US (East Coast).

    6. Preferably, at least two Cable Landing Stations in India in different seismic zones to provide redundancy and to protect against seismic induced disasters.

13. Bidder should have fully resilient and self-healing network architecture, on fiber medium, from the international gateway in India up to the international Points of Presence.

14. The international connectivity must have Trans-Atlantic or / and Trans-Pacific routes. The bidder should have capabilities of route diversity on Atlantic and Pacific.

15. Bidder should have an office within 50 km range from IIITDM Jabalpur.

16. Bidder should have capabilities to provide last mile on Wired/Wireless connectivity from ISP PoP to IIITDM Jabalpur with less than 1% packet loss.

17. Bidder should have state of the art network Management Center and Network Operation Center which operates on a 24*7 basic. Bidder should have centralized trouble ticketing tool for call logging, monitoring and troubleshooting purpose.

18. Bidder should have well defined capabilities and procedures to track call resolution progress status and provide the updates to the customer. In addition, ISP should have well defined management and technical escalation procedures.

19. The Bidder should have well-equipped O & M centers staffed with experience personnel for Operations & Maintenance.

20. Compliance of terms with any deviation should be clearly indicated with remarks in a separate "Deviation Sheet".

Contractors, who fulfill the following requirements, shall be eligible to apply. Joint ventures are not accepted.

(A) Should have satisfactorily completed during last five years ending last day of the month 31May 2009.

Three similar works each costing not less than Rs. 770 lacs (at least one of them should be in Central Government/ Central Autonomous Bodies/ Central Public Sector Undertakings) or completed two similar works each costing not less than Rs. 1155 lacs of total estimated cost or one similar work costing not less than Rs.1540 lacs. ‘similar nature’ of work means multi-storeyed RCC framed structure work having large span structure with superior specifications/ auditorium or lecture hall having more than 300 seating capacity.

1. should have had average annual financial turn over of Rs. 1000 lacs from construction works during the last 3 years ending 31st March 2009.
2. should not have incurred any loss for more than two years during last 5 years ending 31st March 09.
3. should have a solvency of 40% of estimated cost of work.
4. Should have valid labour license and registration with EPF authority

Bid Document consisting of plans, specifications, the schedule of quantities of various classes of work to be done and the set of terms and conditions to be compiled with by the contractor whose bids may be accepted and other necessary documents can be seen in the office of the Director, PDPM IIITDM Jabalpur between 11.00 AM to 4.00 PM from 26.06.09 to 2.07.09 on all working days.

Bid Document, excluding standard form will be issued from this office during the hours specified above on payment of Rs.2500 (Rs Two thousand five hundred only) in cash as cost of bid. • Professor: Ph.D. with at least 10 years of teaching/research/industrial experience out of which at least 3 years should be at the level of Associate Professor.
• Associate Professor : Ph.D. with at least 8 years of teaching / research/ industrial experience out of which at least 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor
• Assistant Professor: Ph.D. with at least 3 years of teaching / research/ industrial experience.

Candidates must have (a) good academic background (b) ability and aptitude for teaching undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses and (c) experience in carrying out an independent research. They should have publications in journals of repute and/or experience in carrying out developmental projects of merit. Basic degree in respective branch is preferred.

Candidates applying for the higher positions may also be considered for lower positions. The Selection Committee may relax the professional experience requirements for candidates with exceptional academic record.

Invitation for Quotation

"PDPM-IIITDM Jabalpur invites 2 cover (Technical & Commercial) sealed bids/quotations for the supply and installation of the following equipment / machineries".

General Terms & Conditions

1. The quotations should be submitted in the form of two bid system; each of which is to be submitted in separate envelopes.
   One envelope should contain "technical bid" i.e. (technical specifications, terms and condition, terms of payment but not price) and other envelope should contain commercial bid. Both the envelops should be kept in another envelope which should be marked with Quotation NIT No and reference number, name of the equipment.

2. ONLY TECHNICALLY accepted competitive bids will be considered for placing Purchase Order.

3. Price:Prices should be inclusive of all taxes and duties FOR IIIT J. In case of any deviation, taxes, duties should be clearly specified.

4. Specification and quantity: The specification as well as the configuration and quantity of the equipment are required to be strictly as per the requirement of the indenter.

5. Installation: Installation of the system at our site with your instruments, accessories, tools & tackles; deploying appropriate manpower as required, at your cost.

6. Service facility: Supplier should mention about the possible service set up in Jabalpur, India and how capable they are to provide after sales service.

7. The quotations may be opened at a later date suitable to the members.

8. The Director, PDPM-IIITDM Jabalpur reserves the right to accept the offer in full or in parts or reject summarily or partly without assigning any reasons thereof.

9. Required quantity of of the listed items is one, unless otherwise mentioned but may vary depending upon requirements at the time of placing orders.

Award of scholarships by the Institute

In order to financially assist meritorious students coming from economically weaker background, the Institute may award the following scholarships to the needy students of B. Tech programme. A holder of any other scholarship from any other source shall not be eligible to apply for these Scholarships unless the same is surrendered.

MCM Scholarship

The total number of MCM scholarships awarded in a given batch shall not exceed 25 % of the students enrolled in that batch of the B Tech program. 20 % of the total number of available MCM Scholarships for each batch shall be reserved for students belonging to the SC/ST categories. MCM Scholarships, if unutilized by any particular batch, may be transferred to another batch. Also, unutilized MCM Scholarships reserved for SC/ST students may be transferred for award to the general category students.

The amount of MCM Scholarship for both general as well as SC/ST category of students shall be as Rs.1000=00 per month as prescribed by the Ministry of Human Resource & Development (MHRD), and approved by the Board of Governors of the Institute. The award of the MCM Scholarship would also imply granting of Tuition Waiver. An additional 10 % of students of each batch of the undergraduate programme, beyond those awarded the MCM Scholarships, may be awarded only Tuition Waiver because of non-availability of enough scholarships.

Central Sector scholarship scheme of top class education for SC/ST Students

The SC/ST students, who have secured admission in the institutions, will be awarded scholarship to meet the requirements for:

(i)   full tuition fee and non-refundable charges

(ii)   living expenses @ Rs.2220 per month per student subject to actuals,

(iii)  books and stationery @ Rs.3000 per annum per student subject to actuals and

(iv)  a latest computer with accessories like UPS, Printer, Multi-media limited to Rs.45000 per student as one time assistance during the course.

The Institute will procure computers and supply to the awardees. Alternatively, the Institute may also consider re-imbursement of expenses made by a student on purchase of the computer, limited to Rs.45,000/- provided, the computer and accessories are procured from a reputed manufacturer/supplier.

The scholarship, once awarded, will continue till the completion of the course, subject to satisfactory performance. Total number of scholarships available for SC students is ten and that for ST students are 5.

For its R&D activities and teaching of professional courses in the disciplines of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Mechanical Engineering (ME) as well as core courses of Mathematics, Physics and Materials Science. The pay carries all allowances as admissible to Central Government employees stationed at Jabalpur. Basic qualifications for the above posts are as given below:

Qualifications (For all Faculty positions): Ph.D., with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch, with a very good academic record throughout. Appointment of Lecturer is temporary and will be made on contract for a period not exceeding 5 years.

Assistant Professor:             At least 3 years teaching/research/industrial experience.

Research Engineer Grade II: M.Tech in the relevant area or B.Tech + 2 years relevant experience or M.C.A. +4 years relevant experience.

Research Engineer Grade I:  M.Tech + 3 years experience or B.tech + 5 years relevant experience or M.C.A. +7 years relevant experience.
